COVINGTON COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Early Monday morning in Covington County, an EF-1 tornado damaged homes and businesses.

Wayne Dickens says he was sitting on his bed when the pictures on the wall began to shake. Then the roof fell in.

"So I got off the bed to get in the hallway there. The wind blew me down. It flipped me a little bit down the hallway. Other than that no one was hurt," he tells us.

Dickens recovered to find snapped pine trees in a pile in his back yard and the fireworks business 100 yards away demolished.

Sandra Lott, owner of The Corner Lott, says her business was more than just fireworks.

"We had utility trailers, enclosed trailers, storage buildings, carports, a salon," she says, adding that she feels numb looking at the damage.

"But the Lord, we serve a mighty God, and this all happened for a reason. My prayer is that we get what we need to from this, and live for him better."

Emergency responders in Seminary and Covington County said by late Monday morning, ten houses and two businesses were reported damaged or destroyed, but there were no injuries.
