JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Governor Bryant spoke from MEMA headquarters on Monday about tornado damage and future flooding that the storm could cause.

The Mississippi River could crest at flood levels around January 16.

The Governor says that they are watching the river stages in Greenville, Vicksburg and Natchez.

The state hydrologist says that moderate to major flooding is expected in coming weeks and could reach 2008 flood levels.

"If you saw flooding along the Mississippi River in 2008, you can expect to the same flooding this time," Governor Bryant says.

Casinos, port operations and such could be affected along the Mississippi River.

Governor Bryant says that residents in these areas should take precautions and prepare to evacuate if need be.

Each county has a full or part-time emergency management program appointed by local government.
