JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Jackson Zoo will offer free admission at Shed Your Winter Coat drive during the month of January.

The Jackson Zoo is partnering with Stewpot Community Services and We Will Go Ministries to host a coat drive to support the community. Guests who donate a gently used or new coat between January 1–31 will receive free admission to the zoo.

Free admission can be used the day of the donation, or a voucher to be used by January 31. Donors will receive one free admission per donated item.

“We love Jackson and are looking forward to helping our neighbors at Stewpot and We Will Go Ministries,” said Toni Francis, Jackson Zoo special events coordinator. “These foundations work hard every day to help those in need and we are excited to help them with their mission.”

The zoo will host a kickoff day for the coat drive on Saturday, Jan. 9 from 10 a.m.–1p.m. to encourage guests to make donations and visit the zoo. Representatives from Stewpot and We Will Go will be in attendance to give information about their organizations.

There will be a food truck and hot chocolate for guests wanting lunch or refreshments.
