RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Entergy spokeswoman Mara Hartmann says the company will take another look at their power pole and power line design at Interstate 55 near Highway 51 in Ridgeland.

The move is prompted by a traffic accident that downed three power poles and a distribution line Tuesday evening.

The poles were taken down and cars damaged when a Chevy HHR slammed into a utility pole. The mangle of lines caused traffic to back up for a while, delaying Entergy lineman from arriving at the scene.

Once there, repairs commenced, and crews finished up before the Wednesday morning commute.

"We're going to look at some redesign of that area to see if there's anything we can do better, although it was a freak accident, so that something like that doesn't happen again, because it did have such an impact," Hartmann says, adding that power was knocked out to 188 customers, mostly businesses.

Cable lines were also affected in the accident.
