Biloxi, Warren County fire departments donate to storm ravaged north Mississippi

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Three Forks Fire Department was destroyed last week when tornadoes ripped through north Mississippi. They lost everything.

But the folks in Walnut won't go without fire protection thanks to fire departments in Biloxi and Warren County.

Biloxi is donating a surplus tanker truck and Warren County is offering up supply lines, hoses and other crucial gear.

Deputy Chief John Jennings, of Biloxi said, "We're still living in the aftermath of Katrina in many ways as you remember; Katrina 10-years ago. So many people came to the gulf coast, all along from state line to state line and so many people from out-of-state and all over the place came to help us in numerous ways and there's no way we can ever repay that, so all we can try to do is pay it forward, so when we hear of someone in need, if can help, we certainly will help."

Warren County Fire Coordinator Jerry Briggs said,"You gotta consider, it could happen to us. We'd want the community to rally around us and the state to rally around us and the state to rally around us, also, so we felt like we needed to help them, best we could."

The Three Forks Volunteer Fire Department lost 2 pumpers, rescue and tanker trucks to the tornadoes.
