JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI (Mississippi News Now) - Senior Citizens did not have to miss out on enjoying New Year's Eve. The Salvation Army hosted the annual Senior Prom Thursday night at the Worship Center on Beasley Road.
Anyone 55 and older was invited to dress up for a night of fun and dancing. Captain Ken Chapman says it is a way to show appreciation for Senior Citizens in this community.
Captain Ken Chapman said, "we have thrown a party for our senior citizens. We want them to know they are not alone and we want them to have a good, safe environment to come and party on New Year's Eve. We promised to let them out of here by 8:30, so it won't be past their bedtimes. But this is a safe place for them to have a good time to pull in the next New Year."
David Gordon told us, "I think it's really nice you know. It beats sitting at home doing nothing."
In addition to music and dancing, Seniors also enjoyed refreshments and a candy bar.
