FLASHBACK to JANUARY 5, 2010: Longtime Mississippi broadcaster known to WLBT viewers as "Chopper Bob" Rall dies of heart failure at the age of 67.

Rall had become a fixture on WLBT in the mornings, broadcasting live from Skycopter 3 each day during the 7:00 hour of the "Today" show starting in 1998. His official assignment was to report on traffic conditions, but when traffic was light, he always managed to find far more interesting stories from above. He could also handle serious, breaking stories with equal efficiency and talent.

Rall had a long career in Jackson-area radio, starting in 1958. He and Bert Case were both disc-jockeys at WJXN before moving on to other stations. Many listeners still remember him from the "Bob and Al Show" on WSLI in the 1960s and '70s with Al Simmons. Rall's quick wit and depth of knowledge endeared him to thousands of fans.
