The lock-down at South Mississippi Correctional Institution in Greene County and Unit 29 at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman will remain for several more days.
According to a press release from the Mississippi Department of Corrections movement was limited at SMCI on Monday following the discovery of contraband.
A search of the entire facility has been required because of the large amount of tobacco, illegal drugs and cell phones found by officers.
Activity at Unit 29 has been restricted as a result of a homicide on December 18th and unrelated contraband confiscated later in the month.
MDOC officials say the department has zero tolerance for the introduction of contraband into any of its facilities.
