Rankin County deputies seize more than a million in meth

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A man traveling from El Paso, Texas to Atlanta, Georgia was stopped in I-20 for careless driving Friday, but ended up being arrested on drug charges.

Pearl Police Officer Lindley stopped a 2010 F350, driven be Domingo Avila, Jr, who said he was heading to Atlanta.

Avila gave consent to search the vehicle.

During a search of the vehicle, Deputy Lindley located 15 kilos of Methamphetamine and 14 liters of liquid Methamphetamine. 

The street value of the Methamphetamine is over $1,000,000.00 dollars.

Avila was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of a controlled substance and transported to the Rankin County Jail.

He will have an initial appearance before District Attorney Michael Guest and County Court Judge Kent McDaniel Tuesday, January 12 at 9:00 a.m.
