HINDS COUNTY, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hinds County Sheriff Victor Mason said a large police presence in a Hinds County neighborhood Sunday afternoon netted two arrests.

Our news crew was on the scene a little after 5 p.m. and saw  deputies searching the trunks of vehicles in the area of the Westview Subdivision.

The large police presence was at the intersection of Westview Lane and Northside Drive.

Mason said, "The neighborhood Patrol Officers were conducting a routine traffic stop. After both suspects' vehicle and patrol car came to a complete stop both (the) driver and passenger exited the car running into different directions".

Mason said at that point a perimeter was established with the assistance of the K 9 Unit and both suspects were apprehended.

Officers found two large freezer bags of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.

Sheriff Mason said two men, Danarian Rodrigous Lee and Carlton Deon Mack, both of  Clinton were transported to the Hinds County Detention Center for booking.
