Dry weather for now, changes coming

First Alert Rain Forecast First Alert Rain Forecast
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Some would say Tuesday is a "Chamber of Commerce" kind of day per January standards! Even though it's chilly, it's been a beautiful day! We have one more night of subfreezing temperatures before we really start to feel the warm up. Expect clear skies and calm winds Tuesday night. Such conditions will be the perfect recipe for a chilly one! I'm expecting low 30s by morning but I wouldn't be surprised if some of you dip down into the upper 20s, especially if you live in Yazoo, Humphreys, Holmes or Attala Counties.

We'll refer to Wednesday as our transition day! Despite a chilly morning, temperatures will bounce about 10 degrees above normal which gives us highs in the mid 60s. I expect a mix of sun and clouds on Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday we'll be dry for much of the day but rain chances return well after dark. The chances are not overwhelmingly impressive, but I do expect to see scattered showers overnight into Friday morning. As of now it looks like this may impact our drive to work or school on Friday morning. Keep in mind, wee are Tuesday talking about Friday so we'll continue to fine tune the forecast in the coming days.

As for the weekend, we could also see some showers on Saturday. Forecast models aren't agreeing on exactly when the rain will arrive - but at this point, we're placing a chance of rain on Saturday and dry weather on Sunday. Sunday will cold with highs in the mid to upper 40s.
