Police make arrests in Stop 'N Shop armed robbery

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

On January 14, around 11:55 p.m. Jackson police were called to Stop 'N Shop on Beasley Road for an armed robbery.

3 male suspects, one armed with a hand gun robbed the business and took an undisclosed amount of money.

They also robbed the clerk of his personal belongings and fired several shots.

The clerk was assaulted, but his injuries are non-life threatening. 

Suspects fled the scene running on foot.

On January 15 around 3:30 a.m. an officer was conducting a traffic stop with a white Nissan vehicle for an expired tag near North side and Meadow Hill Dr.

The vehicle was occupied by four subjects wearing clothing matching the description of the suspects involved in the recent robbery of the Stop N Shop.

All four subjects were detained for questioning regarding the robbery.

Officers recovered a weapon and several key pieces of evidence believed to be linked to the robbery.

The vehicle and driver were later confirmed through surveillance to be involved in the robbery.

Robbery/Homicide Detectives later questioned the subjects and subsequently charged Willie Evans, Keshone McAllister, Gino Banks and Devonta Jimmerson each with one count of Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery of an Individual and Armed Robbery of a Business.

They have been booked into the city jail awaiting an initial court appearance.

This investigation is still ongoing and more charges are possible.
