MCCOMB, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

McComb Police Chief Scott McKenzie were on the scene of a double homicide at a home on Avenue L and North Cherry Street.

At around 9:49 a.m. January 15, McComb Police responded to 714 Ave "L" in McComb, MS.

A caller reported, by 911, two bodies shot inside this home.

Officers arrived on the scene within 3 minutes of the call to aid the victims and secure the scene.

Both victims had detrimental injuries and officers believe these were from gunshot wounds.

The victims were in separate areas of the home, and investigators think they were shot hours before the 911 call.

The two victims have been identified as 64-year-old Barbra Butler Conerly and her son, 33-year-old Shawn M. Butler. 

They were both residents at this house.

The MS Crimb Lab is assisting with testing and collecting any possible evidence.

Both victims have been sent to the MS Medical Examiner's Office in Jackson for autopsy.

McComb police are currently calling this a double homicide.
