JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Several organizations, including the Hinds County Black Legislators co-sponsored the 24th annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast.

The event took place inside of the Greater Bethlehem Temple Church Family Life Center in Jackson.

A large crowd came out for the program, which included, a performance from the "Montage Theater of Dance."

There were also musical selections, words of encouragement from local leaders and prayers.

One guest shared her thoughts about Dr. King's impact on her life.

"I had never seen somebody so brave in the face of adversity and it was encouraging to me, so I have passed that legacy on to my children. That's why I vote, that's why I encourage them to vote because that's where real power comes is in getting things changed," said Dr. Freda Bush

Many of the decorations set up during today's prayer breakfast were created by local school children.
