JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A tornado watch remains in effect for much of the southern part of the state, including the Jackson metro area. The counties included in the watch are:

  • Amite
  • Claiborne
  • Copiah
  • Covington
  • Forrest
  • Franklin
  • Hinds
  • Jasper
  • Jefferson
  • Jefferson Davis
  • Jones
  • Lamar
  • Lawrence
  • Leake
  • Lincoln
  • Madison
  • Marion
  • Neshoba
  • Newton
  • Pearl River
  • Pike
  • Rankin
  • Scott
  • Simpson
  • Smith
  • Walthall
  • Warren 
  • Wilkinson

The watch is in effect until 10 p.m.
