FBI seizes $15 million in assets from Mississippi businesses

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

In a far reaching investigation the FBI, Department of Justice Criminal Investigation Division along with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics raided 9 pharmaceutical compound businesses across the State. Millions in assets have been seized in what may surround health care fraud.

We have learned it started as a tip of possible criminal wrongdoing. Initially launched by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics,  the FBI was called in.
We have confirmed hundreds of people have been interviewed, and $15 million in assets seized,  including planes, boats, cars and 80 bank accounts.

Our cameras were rolling as the multiple federal and federal agencies struck simultaneously. Raiding 9 compounding pharmacies from the Sunflower Discount Pharmacy in Ruleville, to raids on four businesses in Hattiesburg. It spread to 5 compounding pharmacies in the Jackson area. 

Unmarked FBI mobile units blocked the entrance at to Opus RX at the Jackson Medical Mall Thursday morning. Crime scene tape marked off the sidewalk as they seized evidence inside.The U.S. Attorney's office in Jackson had no comment.

The FBI mobile command unit was set up in the parking lot of Lowes while agents swarmed Medworkx compounding and RXremedies, both in Ridgeland, and Moving vans were on standby to collect boxes of evidence.

MBN confirms that search warrants pertaining to this investigation are out in Florida, Utah and Alabama as well.
