Governor Bryant sets special election to fill Madison-Hinds senate seat

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Gov. Phil Bryant has designated March 8 as the special election date to fill the vacancy in Senate District 25. If no candidate receives a majority of votes cast on March 8, there will be a runoff on March 29.

District 25 includes parts of Madison and Hinds counties. The seat came open when Gov. Bryant appointed former Sen. Will Longwitz Madison County Court Judge.

Qualifying for the special election will end on Feb. 8 at 5 p.m.
