JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The major winter storm battering the east is still impacting air travel at Jackson Medgar Evers International Airport.

Saturday the concourse and passenger waiting areas were empty as flights were canceled and delayed at Jackson Medgar Evers International Airport.

One flight from Washington D.C.,scheduled to arrive at 3:34 p.m., was canceled.

A 4:10 p.m. flight to Charlotte North Carolina was also canceled.

There were delays of flights to and from Atlanta.

The snow storm continued to move across the northeast into the Mid Atlantic.

Only a few people were at the Jackson airport for much of the day because of those delays and cancellations, making for travel very frustrating.

"I didn't find out in time. I don't know how long they've known that the flight was gonna be delayed but you know with having to travel about two and a half three hours into the airport and then get here to find out that not only are you gonna have a two hour delay, but you're gonna miss your connection. It's very stressful," Greenville resident Jane Oliver who was flying to Atlanta then onto her final destination.

Officials suggest that if you are flying this weekend, contact your air line for updates for continued services beyond Jackson as weather conditions remain challenging on the east coast.
