JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police confirm that the woman who was carjacked yesterday is a UMMC resident.

She was on call the night before she was abducted.

Jackson police tell us this man is still on the run.

Police tell us a woman was getting into her car at Fondren Hill Apartments on Lakeland Drive when she was approached by a man with a gun.  He forced her to drive to an ATM to withdraw money.

When she could not get any cash from the machine, she was taken to a parking lot off Ridgewood Road and Crane Ridge Drive where the suspect assaulted and shot her.

The suspect fled the scene in the woman's car.  She went to a nearby McDonald's to get help and was later taken to the hospital.

Shortly after the shooting, police say the suspect robbed the "On The Run" gas station on County Line Road.

He entered the store, put a gun to the clerk's head and demanded cash.

An employee says a delivery man was also inside when the crime happened.

The suspect took off in a silver 2015 Toyota Camry with tag number JBG897.

If you have any information, or have seen the vehicle please contact Jackson Police at (601) 960-1234.
