JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Jackson police continue their search for an armed man they've connected to two crimes.

The first occurred with a Jackson woman being carjacked and shot in Fondren. Police say the woman who was assaulted and shot was hospitalized, and had non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say his crime spree started just before 7 Monday morning, at the Fondren Hill Apartments off Lakeland drive.

Police say a woman was getting into her car when the armed man approached her.

They say she was forced to drive to an ATM. When she couldn't get any money out, the gunman made her drive to Ridgewood road and Crane Park Drive.
That's where police say he assaulted and shot her, before taking off in her car.

The victim ran to a nearby McDonalds to get help.

Police have connected the same gunman to a robbery at the Exxon Gas station on Ridgewood and Countyline road.  It happened less than thirty minutes after the carjacking and shooting.

Police say a man driving a car similar to the one taken from the woman, pointed a gun at a clerk and demanded money.

Officer Colendula Green said,

"He made her drive to an ATM where she was unsuccessful at getting money out of the ATM machine," said Officer Colendula Green. "He then made her drive here to Crane Ridge road area where he physically assaulted her, then he shot her, and he fled the scene in her vehicle."

Police say the man got away in a silver 2015 Toyota Camry with a Mississippi Jones County tag that reads J-B-G-8-9-7. If you have any information on these crimes, call Crimestoppers at 6-0-1-3-5-5-TIPS.
