JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

More than one million dollars was spread out on a table as armed deputies guarded the door and hallway into the Sheriff's office.
There were stacks of one hundred and twenty dollar bills.

Sheriff Victor Mason said Tuesday morning his deputy spotted a vehicle driving erratically between Clinton and Bolton Monday afternoon on I-20 west. The The vehicle was stopped and searched with a drug dog

"He got his dog out and the dog believe it or not hit on all four doors of the car," said Sheriff Mason. "The money was stashed in the doors which showed us there was residue somewhere."

Sheriff Mason said documents indicated the cash was destined for Las Vegas. adding,

"These people are couriers, I mean they are delivering the money to get the product or they may have just dropped the product off and on their way back home," added the sheriff. "So it was one or the other, you don't buy M & M's with this kind of money."

Three men were taken into custody for questioning.

"We are going to work with the federal agencies that are assisting us because there are other big spots we are looking at," said Mason. Right now we are just questioning them."

He suggested it could be a conspiracy but declined further comment.

We were not told what charges may be lodged against the men. The Sheriff hinted this bust may be connected to drugs. For now all that money will be tightly guarded and deposited.

"This money goes  into the general fund and  we will use this money after it goes into process..we will use this money for to buy better cars, body cameras, in order to stay on top of what we need to stay on top of," said Mason, standing behind the table loaded with cash.
