44-year-old Andra Lowmon Smith, of Anguilla, Mississippi, was sentenced to 10 months in federal prison followed by two years of supervised release for bribery.

Smith must also pay $800 in restitution, and a $100 special assessment.

Smith is a former Probation and Parole Officer with the Mississippi Department of Corrections who worked out of Madison County.

He admitted that he solicited bribes from a parolee he was supervising from March, 2015 through June, 2015.

He took the money in exchange for allowing the parolee to leave Mississippi to find employment.
