Mayor of Clinton delivers State of the City address

CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) - The City of Clinton is in great shape. That is what Mayor Phil Fisher told a crowd gathered Thursday night for the annual State of the City address. Fisher says crime is down, there are more police officers on the streets, revenue is up and a new mall is planned on Highway 80.

Mayor Phil Fisher said, "we've got a railroad station we're gonna build, we've got a new fire station we're gonna build. There's a lot of positive things. 850 lots available. We've got new businesses that have opened here in town, so I'm really looking forward to a great year out of our city."

Mayor Fisher says the city is also working on the brick streets Clinton is known for.

The Chamber of Commerce Annual Celebration was held Thursday night.  Citizens were recognized for their work and dedication in the city.
