JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Wednesday a flood warning was issued for residents along the Pearl River.

The Weather Service's flood warning on the Pearl river puts it at a crest of 33 feet, early next week.
That's just into the moderate flood range.

Hinds county Emergency Operations Center Director Ricky Moore said, "We don't effect homes till over the 36 foot level so were not reaching that so were used to this, in the winter time around here it's just been a couple years since we had it so were not looking for any problems."

Water has already begun pooling on Factory street in the Hightower area south of downtown.

Officials say the water will get close to some homes and businesses, but shouldn't get inside.

At Randy's upholstery shop on West street, the water got a few feet from their door in 2014, at 33 and a half feet.

Randy Osborne, owner of Randy's Upholstery shop said, "33 feet it probably put it about where he's standing there so as far as that were going to keep right on working."

There will also be some flooding in north Jackson. The soccer fields off Westbrook road are expected to be underwater by weeks end.

Residents, especially children are being told to stay out of the water.

Ricky Moore said, "When you have water you have snakes fire ants spiders they travel with that water so if you see any streets with water on them by all means don't go through that water we don't want anybody to get effected by the rising water."

Minor flooding on Rosemary road outside of Terry is also expected.

The road could be closed temporarily later this week.
