Officials wi the Jackson Police Department are inviting Jackson residents to become crime fighting ambassadors for the city.

You're encouraged to learn more about combating crime in Jackson through the upcoming Citizens' Police Academy. The Academy starts on March 14th, but there are only about 15 seats left.

If you join the Academy you will learn more about the various parts of the Jackson Police Department and how to help officers fight crime.

"We are the eyes and ears of our communities and I think we can help police officers," said former Citizens' Academy student Galean James. "If we see something, say something. This is just another opportunity to learn your officer, establish that relationship and re-build the city of Jackson to what it used to be."

Call the City of Jackson's Office of Community Relations at 601-960-1389 for more information. You can also email Renee Walker at rwalker@jacksonms.gov.
