Six tornadoes confirmed in Monday's storms

TYLERTOWN, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

According to MS Emergency Management Agency, a total of 6 tornadoes touched down in Mississippi on February, 15.

1 EF0 in Smith county, 4 EF1s in Sylvarena, Smith, Smith/Jasper, Leake, and Winston counties, and the strongest tornado was an EF2 that touched down in Copiah and moved into Simpson County.

Supervisor Frederick Magee sent us pictures of some of the damage along Kirklin and Ginntown Roads near Tylertown.

The National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado with a five mile track moved through the county Monday afternoon.

The tornado was 250 yards wide with winds up to 105 mile per hour. Two people were injured.

Supervisor Magee says the Red Cross is now in the area but they are in need of volunteers to help with the clean up effort.
