One man was arrested for arson after two structures were damaged by fire Sunday.
Jackson Fire Department Division Fire Chief Cleotha Sanders said 24-year-old Joshua E. Walker was arrested by an arson investigator and charged with arson.
Sanders said the fire department was called out around 7 a.m. to the fire on Handy Avenue.
Sanders said, "Firefighters entered the home, conducted a search, which was all clear and reported the fire under control a short time later".
Sanders said during fire suppression of that home, firefighters responded to a shed fire in the back of a home on Hair Street.
Firefighters arrived on scene and extinguished that fire and the structure was also clear on the search. Both homes were reported vacant.
"Citizens of the neighborhood apprehended the individual who allegedly set the fires and Jackson Police detained him until the Jackson Fire Department's Arson Investigator arrived on scene," Chief Sanders added.
