FLORA, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Fire investigators are looking into what caused a house in Flora to burst into flames early Monday morning.

The house is located in the 1300 block of Highway 49, north of Highway 22.

Firefighters from Flora, Kearney Park, Brownsville and Pocahontas spent several hours getting the fire under control. Officials say no one was living in the house.

One of the main challenges for the crews was attacking flames in the attic. The fire destroyed the second floor and stairs, making it difficult to reach hot-spots near the roof.

"If someone happened to be upstairs and we had to do a rescue we would have had to do what we had to do, to do what we needed to do. We didn't see any life danger so we made sure everybody was going to be safe and stayed defensive," says Kevin Miller, a Flora firefighter.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.
