CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The Clinton Police and Fire Departments will be hosting an active shooter drill on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Morrison Heights Baptist Church. The drill will simulate the scenario of an active shooter at a house of worship and the response of Clinton’s first responders to such a scenario.

Ministers and leadership from metro area churches will be role players in the event that will allow an assessment of response procedures by police and fire departments as well as church leadership to an active shooter.

In the planning stage since August 2015, the drill will simulate the city's response to an active shooter situation at a house of worship.

The drill is the third emergency response training since 2014. Previously, CPD and CFD have hosted active shooter training events at Clinton High School in 2014, and a mock chemical spill response in 2015.

Please be aware of a larger than usual police presence at Morrison Heights Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 1 for the training.
