VICKSBURG, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

The city of Vicksburg is offering $5,000 to Crime Stoppers towards the capture of Rafael McCloud. This is in addition to the $2,500 that you could receive from Crime Stoppers if you tip leads to McCloud's arrest.

McCloud, a capital murder suspect, escaped from the Warren County Jail just before sunrise Wednesday.

Deputies and police, along with K-9 officers, searched wooded areas, homes and apartment complexes for the suspect all day. They even saturated Martin Luther King Drive in Vicksburg.

That's near the spot where McCloud is accused of dumping the body of 67-year-old Sharen Wilson after raping and killing her last year.

Authorities say McCloud used a makeshift knife to hold a jailer hostage, take his jacket, pants and keys, then escaped from the jail.

"What he left in were a pair of dark green pants, black jacket and orange flip flops," said Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace. "We recovered the flip flops, so it is a possibility he was barefooted shortly after he left the jail."

"I worry about my customers," said Vicksburg business owner Felicia McKnight. "I was praying that he didn't come in here because I have a lot of elderly people that are in and out and I wouldn't want him to do anything to anyone in here."

Schools in the area were put on lock-down as a safety precaution, along with the Warren County Jail.

Authorities are asking the public to please call police if you see McCloud.
