Suspect in double murder surrenders to police

Jackson Police have e suspect in a Westhaven Blvd. double homicide March 5th. Nineteen-year-old Anthony Harris surrendered to authorities Friday afternoon just after 4 p.m.

Harris is charged with two counts of capital murder and one count of armed robbery of a business, stemming from a prior investigation. He's booked into the city jail awaiting an initial court appearance.

On March 5 at approximately 6:15 p.m. JPD responded to 4906 Westhaven Blvd. regarding a shooting. Two Hispanic men, later identified as Daniel Omar Gomez and Eli Nunez had both been shot. They were taken to UMMC and pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The suspects were identified as two armed black males that approached the victims and demanded their belongings and money. They left the scene on foot after robbing and shooting the victims. They also shot and killed a dog during the incident.

During the course of the investigation, detectives developed and identified Anthony Harris as one of the suspects.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges and/or arrests are possible
