CONSIDER THIS: Capitol Complex Improvement District

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

There are dozens of state owned properties in Jackson but the city receives very little support to provide services to those facilities because state properties are tax exempt. Although there are no plans to change the tax exempt status, members of the House and Senate are considering legislation to create a new Capitol Complex Improvement District and shift some sales tax revenue from that zone into the city. Estimates suggest the tax would generate more than 20 million dollars that the city could use to help offset the cost of fire and police protection and assist with infrastructure improvements.

Consider This:

As the capital city Jackson is the front door to the state and that first impression is very important. Unfortunately, the city is struggling to provide services for its residents, much less the state, so that first impression is not so good. If approved, the revenue from the Capitol Complex Improvement District would make a difference. State leaders need to support this legislation.
