JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Many metro area drivers say more money is desperately needed to repair the worst roads they have ever seen. They are fed up with the capital city's crumbling streets.

Tamitha Berry Lives on East Santa Clair Street in Jackson and says there are potholes everywhere.

“I have to drive on this side of road when the traffic is not coming and then I have to dodge that and I have to hurry and get back on this side of the road and it is worse up the road,” said Berry.

The Jackson resident has spent more than $1,000 fixing her car and she is not happy about it.

“It is frustrating. It is terrible. I was thinking me and my neighbors should start a petition on the street,’ said Berry.

Mark Grubbs is the owner of Terry Road Tire and Alignment shop.

He said, “It is good for my business, but it is not the type of business you want to see when someone has had a misfortune of a pothole. I just see it more and more every day”.

He said potholes are by far are the biggest issue that's costing drivers in Jackson. While you can easily see some of the damage, Grubbs said other car issues are not so visible.

“You can damage a tire and a wheel and a sensor. You can  also damage a front-end part such as a strut or a tie rod,” said Grubbs.

His advice on how to avoid the cars repairs until the streets are fixed.

“Be careful, slowdown, and just dodge those potholes. You can have an accident by running into another car,” said Grubbs.
