JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Do you have dreams of owning a home?  Well, Habitat for Humanity Mississippi Capital Area wants to help make that dream, a reality.

The non-profit organization is currently accepting applications for individuals and families interested in becoming part of the Habitat home ownership program in Madison, Hinds and Rankin counties.

The purpose of the organization is to build and sell decent and affordable housing to families who need better housing.

"If they're staying with family members or just a home that's too small for their family, they have a need," said Ashley Avery, Family Selection Coordinator for Habitat For Humanity Mississippi Capital Area.  "A lot of families come to us paying nearly $1,000 in rent or leasing, and that's too much for the family to pay every month."

An informational meeting has been scheduled for April 7, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. at the Jackson Medical Mall.
