RIDGELAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

We have just received information that Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker was attacked by some men at a Ridgeland bar a few weeks ago.

On February 20, Ridgeland police officers responded to Shucker's Oyster Bar in reference to a fight.

Sheriff Tucker told police that he and his son were playing a game of pool, when one of the men came up and interfered with their game. Tucker says that when he asked the man to step away from the table that he cursed at him.

When his son, Stephen, asked them to step away again, several others surrounded him and one grabbed him by his shirt.

When Stephen began to pull away, a fight started.

Tucker told police that he tried to separate the men from his son, when one man, identified as Garrett Sanders, punched Tucker in the face. Right after that, another man, Joseph Sanders, struck the Sheriff again.

Security then intervened and Ridgeland police were called.

Witnesses also identified Garrett and Joseph Sanders as the men who punched Sheriff Tucker in the face.

Garrett and Joseph Sanders are both charged with simple assault.
