Slim chance of severe storms on Easter

Minimal Severe Weather Threat on Easter Minimal Severe Weather Threat on Easter
JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

After a cool Saturday morning, we're in for a warm afternoon! Temperatures today will reach near 80° under partly cloudy skies.

Easter Sunday will start in the 50s, but an area of low pressure near the Gulf Coast, a warm front across MS and an approaching cold front from the west will trigger scattered showers and maybe a few strong thunderstorms. We may have a few gusty storms in the morning and afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 70s again. The severe threat is low, but there is a possibility of damaging wind and hail should the storms reach severe limits.

Quiet weather returns for the start of next week with but a stronger storm system arrives Wednesday and Thursday, bringing a higher possibility of severe weather.

Expect highs in the 70s next week and overnight lows in the 50s and 60s. Normal high this time of year is 71 and the normal low is 47.
