Governor Phil Bryant is supporting a move to tear down Memorial Stadium and build a new covered facility on the Jackson State University campus.
"I think it's time to take it down and use that area for the medical city. Not only the University Medical Center but allow Baptist, St. Dominic and other health care industries to come into that area to extend this healthcare corridor, said Governor Bryant. "We need to go over to Jackson State to their campus and build them a stadium that they can enjoy, that will be there on that great urban campus of theirs, but that is valuable land that old stadium is on. We need it."
The stadium on the JSU campus would cost Mississippi taxpayers 75 million dollars.
