PEARL, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A picture has been warming hearts on social media after a mother posted her son's sweet interaction with a Pearl police officer.

Officer Jeremy Haywood was patrolling a neighborhood when a 3-year-old boy caught sight of him.

Paxton's mother said he was beside himself at the sight of the squad car.

When Officer Haywood saw the excited toddler, he pulled over and got out of his car. The officer didn't have to stop, but he chose to.

Paxton's mother took this picture as she watched her son ask "a million 3-year-old questions" and she said Officer Haywood patiently and kindly answered each one.

His mother said he took time to show Paxton the gadgets on his car and uniform.

As the Officer was saying goodbye, Paxton yelled, "Be safe!"

The boy's mom said it perfectly in her Facebook post, "If a 3-year-old can get it, why can't adults?"

His mother then thanked Officer Haywood for making Paxton's (and her) day, by saying, "Mississippi gets so many negative views but this picture says it all! Thankful for those who serve our community & keep us safe!"
