JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A dead bill to change Mississippi's flag will likely stay dead despite a state senator's attempt to revive it.

Democratic Sen. John Horhn of Jackson has filed a motion with the Senate Rules Committee to bring back Senate Bill 2147, which would redesign the state flag.

A motion to reconsider a dead bill has to pass the committee and then get two-thirds majority vote in both the Senate and House.

Rules Chairman Terry Burton says it's unlikely. He says there are plenty of unresolved issues to discuss before the Legislature considers reviving a dead bill.

The Legislative Black Caucus gathered in the rotunda of the state Capitol Friday to rally support for the motion. They say a majority of Mississippians want the flag changed but Republican leadership won't allow it.
