JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Sunny skies will continue to take over the skies Monday! Temperatures will hang out in the 40s Monday morning before climbing to the mid to upper 70s by this afternoon. We should be in the lower 70s for this time of the year. We're running a few degrees above normal and will stay that way through Wednesday.

Clear skies and calm winds expected tonight and that will set us up for another chilly night. Temperatures will fall to the upper 40s and low 50s.

On Tuesday, we're going to hit the repeat button on the forecast. We'll stay dry again with afternoon highs in the 70s. We'll see a few clouds in the afternoon but the rain will stay away. An area of high pressure will continue to keep the weather nice and quiet until Wednesday.

Wednesday, we can expect a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. As for now, I don't expect everyone to get rained on. Temperatures will top out in the upper 70s before the rain arrives.

Late in the week, temperatures will trend down by a few degrees. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 60s and low 70s through the weekend with morning lows in the 40s and 50s. There's a slim chance of a shower on Sunday.
