Congressman asks U.S. Attorney to review "Religious Freedom" law

While some are hailing the Governor's move to sign into law the so called Religious Freedom bill, Congressman Bennie Thompson is asking the United States Attorney General to examine it.

Thompson was at Nissan Canton Wednesday as the auto maker donated $250-thousand dollars to six historically black colleges and universities in Mississippi.

He opposes the new law and sent a letter to Attorney General Loretta Lynch for a legal opinion.

According to the Congressman, "If she agrees with a lot of people in this country that it does discriminate in its authorization to challenge it. So we look forward to talking with the Attorney General."

Thompson says on its face, the Mississippi law is discriminatory.
