The Tougaloo College family came together Thursday night to remember the life of a young student. A ceremony was held on the campus in honor of 20 year old Jana Clanton of Madison. Clanton was killed in a car accident Wednesday.
Thursday night Tougaloo President Dr. Beverly Hogan, students, friends, and Clanton's sister honored her life. She was traveling south on I-55 near the Vaughn exit in Yazoo County when her car left the road and hit a tree.
"She lived life to the fullest," said her sister Waikinya Clanton. "She enjoyed every moment of it. Any opportunity she was presented with she went all the way through. She was definitely a follow through type of girl. Anything she wanted she got."
Following the ceremony inside Woodworth Chapel, a candlelight vigil was held. Clanton was a Presidential Scholar at Tougaloo.
