Educators learn best practices during annual symposium

JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Hundreds of educators from across the state were in the Capital City this weekend expanding their skills in the classroom.

The Mississippi Professional Educators held its 2016 "Best Practices Symposium" today at the Hilton.

Four hundred 50 educators attended and completed training and professional development.

The guest speaker was Dr. Harry Wong, classroom teacher and author on the development of effective teachers.

According to organization, the conference is a culmination of the year's training and development sessions.

"MPE is a great organization if you are an educator, an aspiring educator. you should join MPE for the professional development, the knowledge and the legislative updates that we do weekly, monthly through email to stay abreast of current educational issues," said MS Professional Educators Past President Angel Towers.
 
 MPE is the state's largest organization for professional educators with approximately 13,000 members.
