MADISON (StJoeBruins.com) – Saint Joseph Catholic School Principal Doug Jones has named longtime high school and community college football coach Todd Lott the Bruins’ new athletic director and head football coach.
Lott, currently the football coach at Germantown Middle School and an assistant coach for Germantown High School, is expected to start work on a limited basis during spring football practice. He will join Saint Joseph full time this summer.
“I am blessed and honored to be the athletic director and head football coach at Saint Joseph Catholic School,” Lott said.
“I really appreciate the confidence that the search committee, the superintendent and the principal have placed in me,” he said. “I am looking forward to working with the administration, the staff and a great group of student athletes.”
Jones agreed: “We are excited to have someone with the background and experience Todd Lott has joining the team at Saint Joseph. We believe his experience and enthusiasm will add much to an already strong athletic program.”
Saint Joseph Catholic School, in Madison just off Interstate 55 and Mississippi 463, offers seventh through 12th grade Catholic education with a rigorous college prep curriculum grounded in the teachings of the Catholic Church. The school is accredited by the Mississippi Department of Education and AdvancED.
Besides academics, Saint Joseph students participate in more than 15 athletic programs including football, baseball and swimming. The Mississippi High School Activities Association has recognized Saint Joseph as the best All-Sports Program for Class 2A.
Lott, 50, will replace Miller Todd, who will resign at the end of the school year after serving as athletic director and head football coach the past two years.
Lott comes to Saint Joseph with more than 27 years of experience in education. He has worked at several high schools, including a 1988-2010 stint at Washington School in Greenville as athletic director, football coach and high school teacher.
The Greenville native also served as head football coach at Greenville-Weston High School from 2010-2011. And he served as head football coach at Mississippi Delta Community College from 2011-2012.
Since July 2013, Lott has served as head football coach at Germantown Middle School as well as varsity linebacker coach at Germantown High School.
Lott and his wife Annie live in Madison.
Their oldest daughter Morgan will enter the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Physical Therapy in May; their youngest daughter Katie Beth is a freshman at Delta State University; and their son Charlie will be a freshman at Saint Joseph next fall.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for me and my family,” Lott said. “I know the school has a storied and tradition-filled past. We will build on that strong foundation and continue to make Saint Joseph the best it can be.”
