If you've procrastinated on filing your tax return, you now have less than twelve hours to get it done.
Several last-minute filers are having their taxes completed across the Jackson metro area. Tax advisors say if you're procrastinating because you owe money, the best thing to do is to file before Monday's midnight deadline. They say missing the deadline will cost you a lot down the road.
"Don't be afraid to come in because you know I want to go back and say the penalty for not filing is greater than the penalty for paying, so even if you had to work out a plan with the IRS about paying just come on in and file your tax return. That penalty is ten times greater than the penalty for not paying," says Jeannia Walker-Ward, an H & R Block tax adviser.
If you don't think you will get your taxes complete by April 18th, make sure you file for an extension, in order to avoid a penalty.
