RICHLAND, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A school fight turned bloody and it was all caught on camera.

It happened at Richland High School on Monday. Some students posted it online and now it has gone viral.

“I was very, very angry and flabbergasted that would go on at school,” said parent Misty Sennett said.

The video, obtained from Twitter, shows students at Richland High allegedly standing in a hallway waiting for Sennett’s daughter to walk out of class. Then, as soon as she crossed the door, a girl starts punching the 9th grader repeatedly and wrestles her to the ground.

Someone finally stepped in to break it up.

The mother of the victim said the video is shocking.

“Some of the school kids are on social media, sharing it, retweeting the video and  talking about it. It is ridiculous," said Stennett. "You don't attack a child and think it is cute.”

This cell phone fight video from Rankin County is one of many brawls that can been seen online from schools across the country.

“The reality our children spend a lot of time on social media and on their phones, around 6 hours a day, and so they have much larger audience they are playing too whereas before it would be the kids around them. It is not only children, it is adults,” said Rankin County Judge Tom Broome. “I would encourage parents and the community members to work with their children and with the children in their community to set a good example and be informed.”

Officials with the Rankin County School district said they are aware of the situation at Richland High School. The school’s administration took action immediately and administered discipline according to board policy.
