Money available for children's healthcare costs

The United Healthcare Children's Foundation wants to make it easier for parents in need to afford their children's medical expenses.

The foundation offers grants to help pay for kids' healthcare, treatments, services or equipment not covered, or not fully covered, by insurance. Families that qualify can receive up to $5,000 per grant, with a lifetime maximum of $10,000 per child. The children must be 16 or younger and part of a commercial health-insurance plan to qualify.

Jackson mom Rosaline McCoy says she appreciates what the foundation is doing to help families.

"I would just like to thank them for even reaching out, finding the interest, finding the opportunities and taking advantage of it and then sharing it with the community so that more people can know about things like this, so that we all can start to look into things that can better help our families particularly our children," says McCoy.

The foundation has awarded more than 10,000 child medical grants to families across the country. For more information, check the United Healthcare Children's Foundation website .
