JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A suspicious package was found outside the back door of the McCoy Federal Building downtown.

Authorities have confirmed that the scene cleared around 1:30 p.m. and Officer Green confirms that the suspicious package was not a threat.

According to Jackson Police Commander Jarrett Taylor, a man was seen on surveillance video approaching the McCoy Federal Building in a vehicle around 11 a.m., and leaving a manilla envelope outside the back entry way. He was about 6'3" tall and weighs roughly 190 pounds.

"Apparently a gentleman exited the vehicle, dropped the package off and walked to another location. We don't have a definite description of the vehicle. The video is not as concise as we would like it to be, but we are looking for this gentleman," Commander Taylor says.

The envelope had suspicious looking powder on it.

The building was not evacuated, but roadways surrounding the building were blocked off.

The Jackson Fire Department, Jackson Police Department, bomb squad, Secret Service, and federal agents were on the scene investigating.

They detonated the envelope for safety measures.
