JACKSON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Wet weather this spring has done a number on the roads and now Hinds County is having no choice but to push back repairs, because of the same reason.

The side of Clincy Road is slowly disappearing. Spring rains have washed away the side of the road. Sandbags put in as a temporary fix, didn't last long.

"Pieces of it just continue to crumble off," said Gloria Jenkins, who lives on the dead end street.

Residents say strong rains can fill a nearby creek, which washes over the road.

"When it's washed out you can't go anywhere; no one can get in no one can get out," added Jenkins.

Road repair projects across the county are being stalled this year by wet weather. Hinds county road manager Charles Sims says two 6 inch rainfalls have washed out several roads across the county.

"Somebody get sick out here, the ambulance it won't be able to come in here and get anybody, you're stuck," said Jason Jenkins. "If your house catches on fire you're stuck, its a bad situation."

Askew Ferry Road in western Hinds County, where another washout happened, is also awaiting repairs. County officials say they hope to get it fixed by late next week, weather permitting.

Repairs will depend on several days of dry weather, where they can keep the materials they us dry as well.
