CLINTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A traffic stop on Spring Ridge Road, in Clinton, turned into a car and foot chase Thursday evening.  Forty-seven year old Johnny Burks was wanted for parole violation. He is now facing additional charges.

Skycopter video showed the crash shortly after it happened. Trooper Eric Henry said an MHP officer tried to pull the car over for obstructing the flow of traffic on Spring Ridge Road.

He says the driver, identified as Burks, took off onto I-20 East and crashed the car between Highway 18 and I-220.

Burks fled on foot, his passenger, 31-year-old Melvin Peterson did not resist and and gave himself up.

Officers tracked Burks down near the Metro Center in Jackson.

Troopers also found items inside the car that had been stolen from the Home Depot in Clinton.
